SPECIAL : Mt Kuro-dake Extreme 3 day Alpine Trek

Conditions are cold and the weather can get extreme and snow is a high possibility. This trek is not for the inexperience or the light harted. For you hard work you wil be rewarded with some spectacular views and scenery. Number of people need for trek : 3 or more Sign up by : October 7th Dates : October 11th, 12th, 13th : Level : Hard Fittness : Good to High Distance : 21 km ( plus, optional 8 km ) Experience needed : Must have Hikiing or Trekking experience Style : group / hands on / Backpacking ( people are expected to carry and do their share on the trail and in the huts ) Trek condition : Cold . Chances of snow in October are very high. Could be 50cm or more Temperatures at night will be around -10c to -15c and Day time around 0c to -5c. wind chill can be -10c to -15c.
Accommodation : basic mountain hut ( no toilet or runing water )  Meeting places Sat 27th : - option 1 : Sapporo 6am at inside the Sapporo JR station infront of the Mr DoNuts shop near the north/west exit
- option 2 : Asahikawa city 8:45am infront of the Asahikawa JR station at the main entrance

ItineraryDay 1 : We will in Sapporo in Sapporo and take a train to Asahikawa ( people have the option to in Asahikawa if that suits them better ) from Asahikawa will take a bus to the start of our trek . From the start of our trek we will take the gondola hafe way up Mt Kuro-dake and from there we will do a hard hike up to the peak and then a short hike to the hut which will be our base for two nights, Hiking time on this day should be around 4 hours and distance 5km  Day 2 : We will leave the hut very early and we will spend this day day-hiking, doing the lope route around Ohachidary crater and we have the option along the route to hike over to some near by peaks like Mt Asahi-dake the hightest peak in Hokkaido is the conditions are right. This day should give you some great chances for some amazing photos. At the end of the day we will end back at the hut Hiking time on this day should be around 6 to 7 hours and distance 12 km plus the option of 8 km . Day 3 : On this our final day we hike back down and out to where we started and take an relaxing onsen bath to refreshen and cleaned up. then it is a bus and train back to Sapporo. While we are in Asahikawa waiting for the train we have a chance to go to a local Ramen noddle shop nearby the station to enjoy a great bowl of Asahikawa Ramen which one of the best in Japan.  Gear we supplyyou do not need to bring this gear, we will supply it - cooking gear ( pots, burners, gas )

- 2 sets thermal underwaer ( top & bottoms )
- trekking pants
- trekking shirts
- 2 x warm fleece top ( must bring )
- down jacket or very thick warm jacket ( especially for hut )( must bring )
- warm clothes for hut
- down slipper ( optional but recommend bring )
- wind breaker ( optional )
- 2 x gloves : Ski gloves + woolen gloves ( must bring )
- 2 x woolen hut (must bring )
- Face mask or Balacava ( recommend )
- sun hut or cap
- sun glasses ( must bring )

- large & small towels for onsen
- personal items ( tooth brush, etc )
- toilet paper
- 3 large plastic rubbish ( garbage ) bags
- Map ( maps can be brought at the information center at the start of the trek )
Note : If you bring cotton, bring 3 or more of each of what you will bring. Once cotten is wet it stay's wet and is very difficult to dry out without heat. wearing wet clothers high in the montains is not a good idea. if you bring cotton you may have to change many times .
